Shackleton
CROSSING THE ANTARCTIC ISLAND
In 2001, Rebecca crossed the Antarctic island of South Georgia in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton; and in November this year sails south again to celebrate the centennial anniversary of Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914/16. This will be Rebecca’s forth expedition to Antarctica, a continent with whose geography and history she is well versed.
Rebecca is an ambassador of the Shackleton Foundation, founded in 2007 by descendents of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Antarctic expeditions to help disadvantaged and socially marginalized young people. Link: www.shackletonfoundation.org
